The Ottawa Charter is for Health Promotion! This CHARTER for Action is presented by the earliest International Conference about Health Promotion, which met in Ottawa on November 21, 1986, to achieve Health for everyone by 2000 and beyond. This International Conference about Health Promotion was organized to increase global demands for fresh Public Health Movements. This International Conference’s emphasis was on developed countries’ needs but raised similar questions in all other regions.
It started on the development made ever since the Alma-Ata Declaration on Primary Health Care, the World Health Organization’s targets for Health for all, and the latest debate on Health at World Health Assembly’s inter-sectoral actions. Health Promotion is the method of empowering people to take control of their health, also, to improve it.
