Definition
A database management system is designed for defining, retrieving, manipulating, and managing data in the database. Generally, DBMS conducts data, fields name, file structure, record structure and data itself. This addresses a rule to manipulate and validate the data. Using this program, the user can be free from framing the plan to maintain data. This is the fourth generation in query languages like SQL. And these languages used in interaction with the database with a package of DBMS. Some of DBMS examples are FoxPro, My SQL, Oracle, SQL server, dBASE. There are four types of database organizations present, and those are
Relational database: in this database, data are organized with an independent table which is logical.
Flat database: in this database, a single record in which the number of fields is fixed organize the data.
Hierarchical database: this type of database is used to organize the data in a hierarchical format.
Object-oriented database: using the concept object-oriented programming data organization take place. Data contains methods and data; the class’s group objects collect the same techniques and data.
- The objective of database management :
A database management system is designed for defining, retrieving, manipulating, and managing data in the database.
- Purpose of using DBMS
- This can be used as a human logic extension.
- It can answer questions quickly
- The efficiency relies on Automation
- Better than a manual process
- Database administrator’s Role
The main role of the administrator is
Database designing: database designing is used to process a database model; this process involves following works such as
Help gather all information from the whole programming, divide all information into tables, divide the plains into rows, specify the primary key, and set the relationship between tables.
Data storage: it stores the data from various tables. It consists of the physical level or internal level of the database and the conceptual or the superficial level of sorting.
Database language: It uses as a data-defining language used to define the relationship and data types.
Another use of this language is its data manipulation language that performs updating tasks. And last query language allows information for searching.
Data replication: this refers to share the information so that it ensures consistent and redundant sources.
Database backup: some time data backup is mandatory to be used as a backup system after any software error.
Database security: its main duty is to protect the database from unauthorized database users.
